In the gravel parking lot I turned off the music, lights, and engine and was enveloped by the black, silent desert. I guessed which way to walk into the dark and found a friendly woman with an giant poodle and a research project involving sand play. She led me along the paths to the Arcosanti Amphiteater. Even in the dark, I could feel the beautiful structure soaring up from the stage. We photographers and videographers were invited on stage to join in a ceremonial sharing of handmade chocolate in preparation for the dress rehearsal of Human Nature Dance Theater's performance, Ignite. I marvel at the magical places photography takes me.
